Check-Out Date Has Been CHANGED

Hey everyone,  just a quick notice.  Our check-out date has been MOVED two days ahead of what was originally planned for both FA and Fall.  January 5th is the date that we'll need to be checked-out by.  Here is part of the e-mail that was sent:

If this affects anyone or you have question about the departure date, you can either call or e-mail DCP Recruiting.

My mom told me to buy a roundtrip ticket if I could, it's a good thing I wasn't able to do it at the time.  For those of you who have already bought your tickets, I think you are able to move your flight for a small fee depending on what carrier you're going through.  Good Luck!

Fall Advantage DCP Packing List 2014

PACKING LIST FOR DCP FALL ADVANTAGE 2014!
REMINDER, I'm flying down, so this is a list for flying down.  If you're driving, just don't mind the certain titles I gave each part.  You can rearrange this list if you'd like... Add some stuff, take some off, like nail polish, I don't really use it, so I'm not planning to put it on the list.  Also, this list is just based off other lists, I haven't actually tried to pack all of this yet, so I might even have to rearrage what I'm bringing.

21 Day Countdown!

Sooo, guess what came in.... THE OFFICIAL POSTCARD! Here it is!

It's down to the final 21 days till I leave on a flight from New York to Orlando to meet up with my roommate Alexis!  It's crazy to think that just a couple weeks ago I re-found out about the program and now I'll be living the dream! What are the odds that I'd be living in Disney for 8 months!!!! (About 5,000 out of 25,000 if you remembered.)
Next post will be a packing list... Actually, my packing list, so it'll be a little directed towards me and being a girl.  I've read at least 10 packing lists and videos and put them into one giant list.  I just don't have my flash drive on me now, otherwise I'd do it.
Well, nothing left to write about besides how excited I am, but we all don't need to read about that. I'll try and post every day once I start packing which will be two days before I leave!  Any suggestions to packing for 8 months in one, maybe two suitcases?

Woah... I'm going to Disney for 8 months!

Let's start this off by saying HELLO!  My names Brooke Rappaport, I'm from New York, and I've been accepted to the Disney College Program (DCP) for the Fall Advantage 2014/2015 Term!  I'll be starting May 12 (three days after finals) and will be working at Disney in Attractions until January 7th! This blog is here to document my experience and to help out any future/current DCPs!
Most of you probably know what the DCP is, but if you don't know what it is, here's my try at explaining it:

The program is for any who is enrolled in college and has completed at least one semester.  This is basically an internship, with bonuses.    You have to go through a three processes.  The first is the application, then the web-based interview, then a phone interview.  You aren't guaranteed to pass all three of these, and only about 5,000 out of 25,000 applicants get into the program, so hope for the best!  You work 35-50+ a week in Disney depending on if you take Disney University's Classes (yes, they have classes you can take!) and also what job you get assigned to.  You also get two days off a week and free entrance to the Disney Parks!  On top of that, you also get the opportunity to live in their housing complexes and the rent is taken out of your paycheck weekly.  Disney even provides transportation to those who don't bring a car.

There's a lot more to it, but if you're looking at this blog, then you must have already looked into the program or have already been accepted, like me!   The flight is booked and I've found a roommate.  Now I just need to get passed these few finals and pack up!

I'll post a 'what to pack' list in my upcoming posts and if anyone has any suggestions on what to post, go for it!

Hopefully, I'm not writing this for no one...
*cricket cricket*
Good luck to those who have applied and may the odds be ever in your favor!

P.S.  This is my first blog ever, so be patient in my writing skills.
